It conducts its business through three segments: tourism, shipping, and other sectors.
TUI Group has a strong market position. It ranks number one among the European travel companies and is the fifth largest container shipping company. TUI is Europe's largest tourism group and serves approximately 30 million customers and operates in 180 countries worldwide.
In April 2008, the joint venture with Royal Caribbean Cruises which was initially planned in December 2007 was successfully completed. The new company, thus formed, TUI Cruises, is expected to begin service with one ship, in early 2009, and grow quickly with two new builds in 2011 and 2012.
