Summary
This Manufacturing Insights quarterly update analyzes the business environment and trends for the discrete manufacturing sector in Europe (EU 27 + EFTA countries are considered in the analysis).
In particular, we analyze the engineering-oriented value chain (EOVA), which is characterized by industries that are driven by complex, heavily engineered products, such as in automotive, aerospace, industrial machinery, farm/construction equipment, and consumer durables.
Manufacturing Insights provides analysis of trends in the discrete manufacturing sector, based on our Global Performance Index (GPI). This index tracks growth metrics from 800+ publicly traded global firms in the manufacturing industries.
Manufacturing Insights also provides analysis of the developments of the European automotive industry, by commenting the quarterly new car registration data issued by Acea, the European Automotive Manufacturers' association. The most significant industry news to have impacted the European discrete manufacturing industry is reported.
Finally, European ICT investment directions in the discrete manufacturing sector are analyzed by outlining the major ICT contracts that were signed during the first quarter of 2008.
