Summary
While Russia has grabbed a lot of attention from investors keen to share in its phenomenal recent growth, countries throughout central and Eastern Europe have also been forgoing ahead, offering excellent opportunities. The entire region is reaching a 'critical mass' where growth in each country, with few exceptions, is cross-fertilising growth in its neighbours. Kazakhstan has led the way, with its oil, gas and mineral boom transforming its own economy and, increasingly, those of its central Asian neighbours. Ukraine, too, has experienced a huge increase in foreign direct investment amid extensive banking sector reforms. The countries in central Europe and the Caucasus are also growing fast, in the main, and increasingly looking outward for expertise and investment.
Opportunities in: Emerging European and Central Asian Capital Markets and Banking is a comprehensive review of the economic and bankingsector reforms across the entire region, and the opportunities and challenges facing investors. It looks in turn at each country, examining their fundamentals, their economic relationship with Russia and other neighbours and, in particular, their banking sector reforms and funding requirements. Based on extensive primary research, this report should be essential reading for anyone keen to explore the huge potential across the region.
