Real estate popularity depreciating

The industry will face an extremely tough year in 2009. US commercial real estate prices are expected to severely depreciate over the over the year as more borrowers default on their loans and regulators place heavier scrutiny on banks. Investment in commercial property will decline as a result of low business confidence. Projects started in 2008 and prior will be delivered in 2009, resulting in an oversupply of commercial property.

This industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in acting as lessors of buildings (except mini-warehouses and self-storage units) that are not used as residences or dwellings. Included in this industry are owner-lessors and establishments renting real estate and then acting as lessors in subleasing it to others.
