Summary

This study examines the Western European market for ERM applications market by vertical market. The study segments the 2007 license and maintenance revenues of the Western European ERM applications market by 11 vertical segments in Western Europe overall and for the five largest verticals (in five European countries). Finally, the study provides essential guidance on key strategic priorities for ERM vendors.

Transport, utilities, and healthcare/education were the fastest-growing verticals in the ERM market during 2007. Discrete manufacturing, communications, and retail/wholesale were the slowest-growing verticals.

"SAP is the leader in 8 out of the 10 verticals covered in this study, while DATEV is the leader in business services and Oracle the leader in healthcare/education. In some verticals, such as manufacturing, finance, utilities, and communications, SAP has a significant lead over the second-largest vendor. However, in government, the gap between SAP and Oracle has been reduced as a result of Oracle's acquisitions and organic growth. Oracle enjoys a leadership position in the U.K., Sage is the leader in ERM applications in France, and SAP leads all other country-based rankings in this study," said Bo Lykkegaard, research director, European Enterprise Applications at IDC.
