Summary
This IDC study revises IDC forecasts by offering a postcrisis analysis of the worldwide and U.S. business consulting market. Business consulting plays an essential role in response to each of the three dominant crisis response strategies: cost control, position for the future, and aggressive growth. Business consulting helps firms retrench within their existing capabilities; aligns and positions firms for future opportunities; and helps firms envision, validate, and execute new strategies and major changes to operations. As a result, business consulting is able to weather economic shifts with less modulation than the economy as a whole and always able to develop and articulate an attractive value proposition. The U.S., Western European, and Japanese markets experienced slower growth (in real terms and before conversion into U.S. dollars) than Latin America, CEMA, or the rest of Asia/Pacific.
"It is essential for global, industry, and geographic leaders to help practice leaders develop crisp responses and services to support each client's unique strategy." Cushing Anderson, vice president, Project-Based Services research
