In addition, it also looks at the compliance spending trends in 2006 and 2007 and forecast compliance spending from 2008 through 2012 across three product segments, specifically hardware, software, and services; six industry segments, specifically financial services, manufacturing, distribution, services, social infrastructure, and others; and four company size segments, specifically 1-99 employees, 100-499 employees, 500-999 employees, and 1,000 or more employees.

With the diversification of employment styles/contract types, an increasing number of SMBs have started to use outsourcing services for noncore businesses as well. Meanwhile, the recruitment/development of manpower to manage core business workloads has become an important business issue. "Solution providers should develop human resource (HR) compliance management solutions that incorporate the application service provisioning (ASP)/software as a service (SaaS) delivery model to increase the efficiency of standardized workloads and business intelligence (BI) solutions for the development of HR strategies to support SMBs in carrying out companywide optimization," says Eiji Sasahara, Ph.D., research manager, IT Spending Research, IDC Japan.
