Summary

This IDC study, which is a translation of the Japanese report, IDC #J8450103, was carried out in order to analyze the general conditions and trends in the Japan business outsourcing market, particularly key horizontal business functions (human resources [HR], customer care, finance and accounting [F&A], procurement) as defined by IDC. A summary of the forecast for each business segment is included along with an investigation of the market conditions in 2007 and market size forecasts from 2008 - 2012. In addition, it also provides IDC's recommendations for service vendors.

The Japan business outsourcing market has been expanding to supplement staff and to improve standard/labor-intensive business processes. However, standard/labor-intensive business processes are now being commercialized. "In order for service vendors to strengthen their profitability, developing multiple business process services, expanding business scales, and transforming strategic business models are necessary," says Satoshi Matsumoto, research manager, IT Service Research, IDC Japan.
