• The real estate industry group consists of the real estate managemaent and development industry and the real estate investment trusts (REITs) industry. The industry group's value is calculated according to the real estate management and development industry, which consists of companies engaged in real estate ownership, management and/or development, and is valued using the total revenues generated by these companies via leasing and property management activities. While REITs are included in the GICS definition for this industry, the method used in valuing REITs, in terms of market capitalisation, is not compatible and as such, this sector's value cannot be added to the real estate M&D value to form an overall industry value.
