Summary

This study presents a summary and analysis of a survey conducted by IDC. This comprehensive study was designed with the aim of revealing, understanding, analyzing, and presenting the predominant issues relating to perceptions about messaging security, both positive and negative.

"Our survey clearly shows that organizations need more effective antispam solutions," said Brian Burke, program director for IDC's security program. "We found an alarming 60% of organizations reporting spam blocking effectiveness of less than 95%, and only 11% reported effectiveness of 99% or above. IDC believes many organizations still use older technology that can't keep up with more sophisticated spamming techniques or the increasing volume of spam."
