Summary
Methomyl is a highly toxic carbamate insecticide with strong volatility. It was introduced in 1966 and first registered by the EPA in 1968 by Dupont for commercial use on chrysanthemums. Currently it is registered for a wide variety of applications including many crops, turf, livestock protection and commercial premises.
More than 15 manufacturers have produced methomyl in China in 2008-2009, and now methomyl is becoming the main target of strict monitoring due to its heavey pullution. Many producers have resrticted their output or even stopped production in 2008 and 2009.
