Summary
Powder coating is an advanced method of applying a decorative and protective finish to a wide range of materials and products that are used by both industry and consumer markets. A powder material is applied to a surface using an electrostatic or compressed air method, and sometimes a fluidized bed. The applied powder is then heated to its melting point and flows to form a smooth film that dries to a firm, durable finish. In its simplest form, the powder used for the process is a mix of finely ground particles of pigment and resin. It is the fastest growing finishing technology in North America and represents more than 10% of all industrial finishing applications.
The technology also has a strong foothold in Europe and the Asia/Pacific regions, and is growing rapidly in China. This BCC Research report analyzes the global powder coating industry through 2007, and makes market projections over a 5-year period, from 2008 to the end of 2013. It covers global companies that manufacture powder coatings and application machinery such as powder booths and fluidized beds, as well as companies who make raw materials.
The report examines the influence of government regulations and economic factors in shaping the industry. The powder coating industry is analyzed for manufacturing ability and consumption by regional markets. Profiles of major companies in the U.S. and other countries also are included.
