Summary
This study presents a unit shipment forecast for the U.S. inkjet photo printer and MFP markets. The proliferation of digital image capturing devices has driven the increasing need for photo printing support. IDC anticipates that the growth expected for digital cameras will have a positive impact on the inkjet printer and MFP markets. In fact, IDC believes that photo printing support will evolve from a "nice to have" feature to a common specification of virtually all inkjet devices by the end of the forecast period. In 2004, 47% of all inkjet devices, or 12.03 million units, were considered to be photo devices. By 2009, the percentage is expected to increase to 93%, or 22.54 million units.
