Japan Blade Server Vendor Analysis 2012

This IDC study, which is a translation of the Japanese document IDC #J12220109, analyzes the Japan blade server market shipment trends and vendors' competitive landscape until 2H11 (July-December 2011). This study also discusses the competitiveness of leading vendors.

Results of the IDC Leadership Grid analysis on the Japan blade server market showed that the gaps between the top 5 vendors began to close. "Server vendors rival each other with their features and performance, thus differentiating with product hardware alone is getting more difficult in the Japan blade server market. It will be vital for server vendors to take advantage of blade servers' features and differentiate them as a complete system that includes storage, network, middleware, and other supported peripherals, and not merely as a single unit of server," says Kazuhiko Hayashi, server research manager, IDC Japan.
