Summary

This IDC study examines the growth of the Internet video market in the United States. This study focuses on the different video content types, available business models for the different content types, and key drivers and inhibitors for the Internet video market. This study contains forecasts for Internet video revenue by both business model and content type.

"Despite a slow start and multiple hurdles, premium Internet video is starting to capture consumer attention and with it advertising dollars," says Elizabeth Curtis, associate research analyst for IDC's Consumer Markets research group. "Although advertising is currently the best way of monetizing Internet video, IDC expects that as content and consumer tastes evolve throughout the forecast period, advertising, while still crucial, will take a back seat to subscription services."
