Summary
This Financial Insights report provides the results of a Financial Insights survey of predominantly U.S. financial institutions. Very quickly, banks will provide new and multiple faces to their clients and the public. The early stages of this transformation are already becoming visible as banks begin to embrace the concepts of Web 2.0 and venture into internal collaboration communities, external blogging, and online portals incorporating rich Internet applications.
"However, this venture can have hidden pitfalls," Jeanne Capachin, research VP, Global Banking and Insurance Practices at Financial Insights warns, and adds "Institutions must address cultural and organizational hurdles to succeed with Web 2.0. The technology aspect is probably the easiest piece to get right, so they must resist the tendency to move ahead on the IT front without adequate preparation."
