Summary
This IDC study deals with IS budget dynamics, channel selection, and vendors' performance in the Western European SMB marketplace. Western European SMBs show dynamic IT budgets but also a high level of complexity. IDC's European Industry Solutions expertise center conducted a survey in November 2007 among 1,472 companies with fewer than 500 employees in order to deepen IT strategies and objectives that characterize this market segment.
According to Angela Vacca, consulting manager, European Vertical Markets,"IT vendors need to better educate their channel partners as SMBs are not satisfied with their IT suppliers. This is extremely important as SMBs are going to increase their IT budget and to slowly move towards more innovative IT solutions. The accent must move to customer services and to IT quality as SMBs' IT needs are becoming increasingly sophisticated."
