This IDC study analyzes the results from the hosting infrastructure services section of the 2008 U.S. WAN Manager Survey. This document examines the hosting infrastructure services market from a demand-side perspective, focusing on the United States-based businesses, with results segmented by company size, industry, and U.S.-only versus multinational corporation (MNC) orientation.

The survey explores a number of issues, including companies' use of third-party hosting infrastructure services, the factors influencing the decision to rely on external hosting service providers or to keep the hosting function in-house, planned technology upgrades/migrations, and service provider selection criteria. "Third-party hosting infrastructure services are gaining momentum, particularly among larger companies," says Melanie Posey, research director, Hosting Infrastructure Services.
