Summary
This IDC study presents results from IDC's 2008 U.S. WAN Manager Survey. It focuses on responses related to network infrastructure utilization and migration plans, service provider selection and perceptions, and telecom spending/budgeting. By presenting results by company size, it focuses on the strategies of small, medium-sized, and large United States-based businesses from a demand-side perspective.
Telecommunications services continue to evolve, with new products and features continually being brought to market. This year, hot topics in the industry include fixed/mobile convergence initiatives, WAN migration trends, WAN access trends, last-mile connectivity as well as Ethernet implementation. "Despite the huge interest and investment in converged solutions today, IDC's 2008 U.S. WAN Manager Survey results indicate that businesses are more likely to adopt network solutions that are scaleable, bolster performance, and increase ROI." - Meera Singh, research director, Worldwide Telecommunications
