Summary

This IDC study offers a postcrisis update of the worldwide security products markets.

"Although 2008 was tumultuous, the security market showed good growth. In 2009, IDC believes spending on security products will remain stronger than other IT areas because of compliance and business requirements. Our survey research continues to point to very robust customer investment in emerging areas such as security hosted services and virtualization," said Brian Burke, program director for IDC's security products program. "Moreover, a recent IDC economic meltdown study showed that security was the least likely area to face cuts in response to the current economic crisis."
