China Semiconductor Market Overview, 2006

In 2006, the sales revenue of IC industry in China amounted to RMB 100.63 billion, up 43.3% year-on-year, and the total output reached 35.56 billion pieces, increasing 36.2% from a year earlier.

The whole scale of China MCU market recorded RMB 30 billion, up about 16% year-on-year. The cell phone chip market scale amounted to RMB 68.16 billion. The digital TV STB output was 54.083 million units, rising 40.7% year-on-year. The STB chip market scale amounted to RMB 8.37 billion, up 38.4% over the previous year. The smart card sales recorded 1 billion pieces, up more than 50% from a year earlier.

The demand amount of the whole silicon wafer market reached 4.04 billion square inch, up 114% year-on-year.

Due to the rapid development of the license anti-counterfeiting and electronic payment, the RFID market scale exceeded RMB 6 billion.

The high brightness chip output amounted to 12.2 billion pieces in China in 2006, up about 101.4% year-on-year, accounting for 39.4% in all the chip output. Meanwhile, the blue LED chip output kept the increase at the pace of 58% as well.
