This IDC study analyzes the performance of the Japan servers market in 2H07 (July-December) and provides forecasts for the period through 2012. We analyze the Japan servers market in 2H07 from various perspectives, including product type, vendor, price band, OS, and socket capability. Based on the results obtained and our observations of the market trends, we forecast the market size and server product trends for the period through 2012.

"The Japan servers market continued to slow down in 2H07. The mainframe declined sharply. However, this was due to the backlash from the previous year's boom and something we had predicted. Meanwhile, the x86 servers segment saw an upturn in replacement demand and unit shipments. From the above, we deduce that the Japan servers market has already pulled out of the demand slump. We have therefore revised the forecast for 2008 and subsequent years upward," notes Masahiro Nakamura, group manager, Servers, IDC Japan.
