Japan IT Services Vendor Competitive Analysis 2008
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J8460106) provides an overview of and analyzes the competitive landscape that exists among leading vendors in the 2008 Japan IT service market. Vendors in the Japan IT service market are increasing in size. The number of companies with IT service revenue exceeding 100 billion yen (IDC's estimate) in the March 2008 term increased from 12 to 14. Spurred by business expansion due to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and strong business performance through large construction projects in the financial industry, 12 out of the 14 companies posted positive growth.
Amid mounting uncertainties over the economic outlook, IDC believes vendors will seek to strengthen their business infrastructure and continue to implement M&A activities and organizational changes in hopes of strengthening their consulting services and providing support for large-scale contracts in the future. "In response to the changing market environment, it is important for service vendors to provide a flexible combination of standardized services and various resources. Vendors that are well-equipped to swiftly respond to market needs will be able to expand their businesses," says Akiko Takei, market analyst, IT Services Research, IDC Japan.
