Malaysia IT Services and Contracts Trends

This IDC study reviews a number of typical service contracts that were signed in Malaysia in 2008 and early in 2009. It also analyzes these service contracts according to three categories: project oriented, outsourcing, and support and training. Using information gathered by IDC's quarterly contract trackers, this study aims to illustrate the trends and characteristics of the IT services market in Malaysia.

"Malaysia has not escaped the effects of the global economic downturn. There have been signs that companies are curbing their IT investments amid increasing economic uncertainties," says Hailey Chan, associate market analyst, IT Services Research, IDC Malaysia. "Despite the bleak conditions, the IT services market is still projected to fare better than the hardware and software markets. Services such as outsourcing and network consulting and integration are still in demand, as evident in the contracts signed in those markets. Services that bring in key benefits, cost savings being the obvious one, are not likely to see a lack of demand, " she adds.
