This IDC Study looks into the IT security software deployment, buying preferences, and future spending among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country, as the industry braces up against heightened business risks.
"SMEs' future investments on security software applications will be made primarily as part of an integrated solution package. Security products that go with hardware, other software products, as well as delivered with necessary IT services components will be most preferred. This move is in line with SMEs' main strategic requirement of reducing the cost of IT investments in the long run. Vendors would need to create strategic partnerships with other vendors that would link up missing chains in the integrated solution package spectrum, while also strengthening corporate resellership and network of systems integration (SIs). While SMEs are now more discerning of their particular need and how a product suits this, cost factor remains a big issue, which vendors and service providers (SPs) must also take into consideration,"says Jubert Daniel Alberto, research manager, peripherals and consulting, IDC Philippines.
