"IDC expects to see healthy European ERP applications market growth around 5% annually over the next five years," said Bo Lykkegaard, program manager of IDC's European Enterprise Applications program. "It is really a market in transition. What used to be ERP applications are now turning into ERP platforms. What used to be a classical dilemma between the pre-integrated ERP suites with good-enough functionality and the innovative but hard to integrate best-of-breed applications is less important today. The fact that ERP ecosystems allow customers to get the best of both worlds will be an important factor driving the market forward."
