Summary

This study provides the latest software license and maintenance revenue shares of more than 600 enterprise applications vendors between 2002 and 2004 and the overall market trends that form the basis of the 2005?2009 forecast. The study also contains the 1H05 performance of 50 major enterprise applications vendors.

The enterprise applications market is doing nicely after an extended period of slowdown. But Albert Pang, research director of Enterprise Applications at IDC, cautioned that, "The recovery does bring some extra baggage in the forms of smaller deal sizes, bigger representation of midmarket customers, and a variety of buying patterns from different industries that may not automate at the same rate as their operations with enterprise applications. Still, with a 10.4% growth rate among the 50 major enterprise applications vendors in the first half of 2005, the market seems to be on a tear even though a banner year may turn out to be illusory for many."

Companies Mentioned: SAP; Oracle
