Summary

The Finnish market for application software experienced a growth of 5.7% in 2005 (compared to 5.5% in 2004) to reach a value of Euro 426m. Growth in the market was driven by strong growth in content management applications and ERM applications as well as above average growth in the operations/manufacturing application markets.

"We expect to see a relatively stable growth scenario in the application software market over the next five years, although some extra-ordinary market factors will emerge such as RFID and analytics", says Per Andersen, Managing Director of IDC Nordic. "Longer term the software industry is facing the biggest changes since the emergence of packaged software, in the form of SOA, software-as-a-service and open standards and open source software".
