Summary

This IDC study examines the results from a survey in which IDC interviewed 310 end users who were the top-down decision makers inside their organizations.

"From this survey, IDC has concluded that end users do have the awareness and confidence needed to adopt software appliances,"said Brett Waldman, research analyst, System Infrastructure Software."However, adoption of software appliances is still low at this point, and the innovators who have deployed software appliances are clearly thinking outside the box. The vast majority of users are still confused and unsure about how software appliances will fit into their IT operations."
