This study represents a detailed competitive view of the Western European CRM applications market by vertical market. The study segments the 2005 license and maintenance revenues of the Western European CRM applications market by 10 vertical markets. Top 8 CRM applications vendors are listed for each vertical. Vendors shares are more detailed for the manufacturing, communication, retail/wholesale, financial services, and government sectors in Germany, the U.K., France, Italy, and Spain.

"Overall, SAP was the largest in 7 out of the 10 vertical markets analyzed in this study. Siebel however, had largest revenues in the two largest sectors, financial services and communications, as well as in healthcare and education," says Erik Bruin, Research Manager for European Enterprise Applications at IDC. "Future vendor share are likely to concentrate further as vendors increasing pick a limited set of verticals to focus. Furthermore, continued vendor consolidation will impact vendor shares. The acquisition of Siebel by Oracle already has a big impact. Besides a bigger lead in the sectors that were already lead by Siebel in 2005, the combined Siebel/Oracle combination would also have had largest revenues in retail/wholesale and government. Furthermore, the transportation and utilities sectors would have been close calls between SAP and the Siebel/Oracle combination."
