This industry is suffering from increasing external competition, especially from big box retailers. However, the growing confidence in shopping on the internet is providing consumers with a further medium through which to purchase products from larger players, and could attract international customers. External competition has forced enterprises to only focus on their core differentiating factors such as higher service levels, selling exclusive brands and creating a better shopping experience.
