Summary
Review
The opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) won a majority of seats in the 15-member Legislative Assembly in a general election held on May 20th, beating the incumbent People's Progressive Movement (PPM), which had been in power since 2005. A referendum on a new constitution was held simultaneously, and was approved in all the constituencies. Implementation of the new constitution, which will change the composition of the executive, will begin as soon as it is ratified by the Privy Council in London.
