Summary

China ex-Taiwan installed more than 5,130 wind-power units in 2008, with the newly-increased capacity of 6,246MW, up 89% from 3,304MW, the newly-installed capacity of wind power in 2007. The total wind power installed in China ex-Taiwan was more than 11,600 units in 2008, with the total capacity of 12,153MW, located in 24 provinces, which are three provinces more than a year ago, with Chongqing, Jiangxi and Yunnan as the new members. Among the 24, four provinces each had more than 1,000MW of installed wind power, and they are Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Hebei, and Jilin. Since the total installed capacity of wind power in 2007 was 5,906MW, the annual increase rate of cumulative installed wind power was 106% in 2008, during which about 12bn KWh of wind power was estimated to be fed into the national power grid.
