The total power generating capacity in megawatts of the operational power generation plants listed in the database amounts to 96% of the world's capacity. This global database currently lists18,602 power generation plants worldwide in 184 countries and a higher number of power generating units. The Global Database of Operational Power Plants is growing continuously, both with quantitative additions and qualitatively with more information about individual plants. All sections of the power generation industry are covered including electricity utilities, independent power producers (IPPs) and captive power plants (CPPs).
