China Corn and Corn Deep Processing Market Report, 2006-2007

At present, the annual corn output of China is only behind America's. The added value of deep processed corn products can be three to one hundred times of that of corn. Along with the rising of the purchase power of consumers and increasing awareness of health, the market capacity of deep processed corn products will be continuously larger.

China's corn deep processing industry is currently in a period of fast growth. Corn deep processing not only conduces to the development of food industry like beverage industry, candy & cake industry, dairy industry, meet processing, condiment, nutritious food, functional healthcare food, enzyme preparation industry, additives and brewing industry, etc., but also is incentive to paper-making industry, textile industry, pharmaceutical industry, construction coating and petrochemical industry, etc.

In recent years, China's corn processing ability improved substantially with an annual growth rate of 20% or so, particularly in main corn producing provinces of Jilin, Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Shandong, etc. On one hand, the scale of corn deep processing enterprises expands fast; there are an increasing number of newly-built or to-be-built companies in corn deep processing on the other hand. For instance, the corn deep processing ability was 2.8 million tons in 2001 but reached 6 million tons in 2005, and the figure rose to 10 million tons or above at the end of 2006. According to governments, the corn deep processing ability of Jilin province will arrive at 16 million tons in 2015, approaching the corn output in Jilin province. It is estimated that the corn processed ability of China will stand at 24.5 million tons in 2007, a share of about 20% in corn output.

Along with the globalization, large-scaled and refinement of corn deep processing market, there will be expanding production of corn deep-processed downstream products and the added value of corn will increase considerably. The global corn deep processing industry will develop fast in the coming two to five years. The rising of corn deep processing will boost the extension of corn industry chain.
