Monthly Price Report of China Chemical Products, May 2007

Presently, the CIF of potassium fertilizer in Southeast Asian regions reached USD 300 per ton. Int'l price of potassium fertilizer marine freight rose sharply, and the freight from Vancouver to Shanghai increased by USD 20 per ton, though in June of 2007, the price of marine freight dropped.

There is a sluggish demand in the downstream of methanol, and the supply exceeds demand. The product price remained steady in May of 2007. For the moment, the factory price of most enterprises stands at RMB 2,100-2,200 per ton. Considering the cost and the release of methanol petroleum standards and dimethyl ether in the future, new demand will be created.

The demand of organic silicon, on the whole, grows steadily. Now, the price of DMC remains RMB 30,000/ton, and the quotation of imported DMC is about RMB 32,000 per ton or so. In Jan-Apr, 2007, the import of organic silicon intermediates reached 49,000 tons, up 33.3% year-on-year.
