Summary
In 2006, China's shipbuilding completion reached 14.52 million DWT, up by 20% compared to 2005. The newly obtained orders stood at 42.51 million DWT, a rise of 150% over 2005. Besides, the held orders amounted to 68.72 million DWT, increasing by 73% compared to the previous year.
In 2006, the shipbuilding completion, newly obtained orders and held orders of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) took a global share of 7.9%, 16.9% and 11.5% respectively. They ranked the second in the world, only behind Hyundai Group of Korea (16.1%, 19.7% and 17.4% respectively).
In 2006, the sales profit margin of CSSC was up to 10.93%, being the first among shipbuilding groups around the world and 6% higher than that of South Korean Hyundai Group.
