Summary
The good development prospect and state's preferential policy for new-type wall material attract many investors. Since 1999, the demand for gypsum plasterboard increased at the speed of over 15% and for some time international capital entered Chinese market. Factories with less than 2 million sq.m of annual production mushroomed. Two main issues existing in current plasterboard industry: 1. the unbalance between the supply and demand of plasterboard; 2. Inferior plasterboards flood market. Since 1999, the demand for gypsum plasterboard increased at the annual speed of over 15%. Although plasterboard develops rapidly in China, its application in still below 7% of new-type wall material and per capita consumption is less than 0.2 sq.m. China plasterboard manufacturers are mainly divided into the following categories. As a new-type decoration material, plasterboard is gradually driving its competitors like solid clay brick out of market with its advantages like energy-saving and environment-protection
