Summary
A load of rubbish - but not wasteful
In a low volatile environment, waste management has undergone cycles of consolidation and this mature industry is expected to continue this trend. In a highly regulated sector, capital intensity is very high for rubbish, but the competition keeps heating up. Recycling is not wasteful, as there continues to be community and government pressure to reduce waste at source and to increase recycling rates.
This industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in (1) collecting and/or hauling hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, and/or recyclable materials within a local area and/or (2) operating hazardous or non-hazardous waste transfer stations. Hazardous waste collection establishments may be responsible for the identification, treatment, packaging, and labeling of wastes for the purposes of transport. This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
