Summary
This study analyzes the results of IDC-Manufacturing Insights' most recent survey, carried out in Germany, France, the U.K., Italy, and Spain. The results are based on 249 interviews with process manufacturing companies in Western Europe.
The aim of this study is to understand the IT vendor selection process in the discrete manufacturing industry.
This study is one of a series that includes:
- IS budget developments to support leading business initiatives
- Analysis of business solution adoption and investment plans
"The most important criterion for discrete manufacturing companies when selecting a primary IT supplier is customer service," said Pierfrancesco Manenti, EMEA research director, Manufacturing Insights, an IDC company. "However, suppliers are failing to satisfy their customers' requirements in this regard."
