Summary
The "World Indonesia - Trends in Demand and Supply" is the Fourth compendium from YarnsandFibers presenting the demand and supply trends in manmade fiber industry.
In this Report we have assesses the impact of the expiry of the MFA and ATC and the scenario post-WTO in global manmade fibre/filament industry and natural fibres, particularly cotton, and how each country prepared and positioned itself in the global market. The analysis assesses the positions of fi-bres/filaments industry and their producers and consumers as events unfolded. Like in case of MFA, the period under consideration is pre-1995, for ATC it is 1995 to 2004 and post-WTO it is 2005 to 2007.
The purpose of this compendium is to serve as a basic information infrastructure for textile companies and to all those who are related to fibres and yarns industry. The compendium will also serve as a ready to use reference and the presentation help easy and quick consumption of the information.
The Report is divided into two sections: Global View and Country View.
It begins with summarising the events and the Principles Guiding World Trade.
Indonesia accounts of 4% of global manmade fibre/filament supplies and 3% in consumption of the same. It is the second largest producer of viscose staple, fifth largest in polyester filament and seventh largest in polyester staple in the World. In 2007, it produced 1.60 million tons of manmade fibre, comprising 700,000 tons of PFY and 500,000 tons of PSF. Viscose staple production was 325,000 tons. The latter accounted for 13% of global supplies.
In consumption, Indonesia is second largest in viscose staple and fifth largest in polyester staple. It is distinct seventh largest consumer of acrylic staple and polyester filament. In cotton it ranks eighth largest in the World.
Indonesia was a major exporter of PSF in 2007, ranking first in the World with export volume of 440,000 tons. This was 82% of its domestic production. It was also a major exporter of PFY ranking third in World and fifth in viscose filament. It ranked Eighth and Tenth in export of PSF and NFY in the World.
Indonesia is also a major consumer of cotton with annual volumes of around 500,000 tons.
