Summary

No more rocking the boat

Although growth has been subdued in recent history, and small operators will have very much noticed this, the horizon seems relatively stable. Those in this mature industry with close access to clients; an experienced workforce and economies of scale will see the most success. As growth in the future is somewhat limited, the industry is expected to consolidate in order to become more efficient.

This industry comprises establishments, commonly known as marinas, engaged in operating docking and/or storage facilities for pleasure craft owners, with or without one or more related activities, such as retailing fuel and marine supplies; and repairing, maintaining, or renting pleasure boats. An operator in this industry is generally responsible for providing facilities where customers can store their recreational boats, offering boat maintenance and repair services by qualified technicians. Marina operators often also offer sailing tuition in addition to the renting of their recreational boats. This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
