Summary

Product description

The present Brief Report about biologics such as antibodies, proteins, peptides, antisense and small interference RNA (siRNA) targeting the cytokine interleukin-13 or its receptors IL-13R alpha and IL-4Ralpha provides a competitor analysis of these anti-inflammatory molecules. R&D projects of IL-13 antagonists to treat asthma and other pulmonary or allergic diseases are discussed as of February 2008. At least six molecules are in early clinical development up to phase II.

The brief report with 32 pages describes the background of the target, the scientific rationale to develop molecules targeting interleukin-13 or its receptors and current drug discovery approaches. The target is suitable for various inflammatory and pulmonary indications, but failed in others. The status of clinical and preclinical R&D is described and critically assessed. Individual profiles of molecules already in clinical development and to reach clinical development soon are presented in executive summaries with references. The Brief Report also includes a summary list of the target pipeline with other research projects.

The Target Pipeline Summary presents a list in a tabular format providing information on:

  • Drug Codes,
  • Target / Mechanism of Action,
  • Class of Compound,
  • Product Category,
  • Company,
  • Indication,
  • R&D Stage and additional comments with a hyperlink leading to the source of information.
