Western European healthcare executives have positive expectations about their IS budget situation. When IDC asked about the future outlook, healthcare executives are optimistic about total IS budget, growth is expected for routine infrastructure upgrades and, especially among primary care providers, for the share of budget allocated to external spending.
In this study IDC provides an analysis of results of the IDC Vertical Market Survey carried out in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. The results are based on 107 interviews in the healthcare sector. This study, which analyzes IS budget plans, is the first of a series of studies that include analysis of IT strategy and decision-making process, analysis of adoption of new technologies, and analysis of IT security adoption and investment plans.
"IT vendors must leverage the opportunity arising from that optimism and target community care service executives, in particular in Spain," said Massimiliano Claps, program manager, Public Sector, IDC European Vertical Markets.
