According to the report Medical Device Market: Iran, government investments in Iran have resulted in an improved health sector, with modernised services and facilities being built annually. Ownership of hospitals is evenly split between the public and private/charity sectors but can be fragmented due to lack of co-ordination between agencies.

A series of Development Plans, spanning consecutive five-year periods from 1990, have aimed to rejuvenate Iran’s health sector by raising hospital bed and personnel numbers, building primary healthcare facilities, improving family planning and immunisation rates, focusing on care of the elderly and prevention of non-communicable diseases, reforming the state medical insurance scheme and social welfare systems in addition to attracting foreign investment. However, there is no firm evidence of the success of these measures.

The 86 page report says that the medical device market appears to have no coherent regulatory framework, and Iranian buyers are very thorough in evaluating products for purchase. It is therefore advised that overseas firms appoint a local agent with knowledge of relevant procedures. Imports account for at least 95% of the market, despite the manufacture of basic consumable items such as syringes, needles & catheters, dental instruments & fittings and orthopaedic appliances. Imports were valued at US$311.4 million in 2006, with Germany and the UK being the leading suppliers. Basic consumables and diagnostic imaging apparatus were the most significant import sectors.

In 2008, Iran’s medical device market is estimated to be worth US$351 million; however, the market size per capita is very low, at US$5. The report predicts annual growth to be 3.8%, taking the market to US$422 million by 2013. Expenditure per capita however, is not expected to rise significantly over the same period.

According to the report World Textile and Apparel Trade and Production Trends: China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan Chinese textile and clothing exports were down by 11% in the first six months of 2009 after growing by 8.2% in 2008 and 18.9% in 2007. In the US market, in contrast to the general trend, sales of Chinese textiles and clothing in the first half of 2009 advanced by 3.9%. However, growth should have been faster, after the removal of safeguard quotas restricting US imports of several products from China at the end of the previous year. In the EU, imports from China grew by 12.7% in 2008 after the EU removed quotas at the end of 2007.

The 30 page report tells us that In Hong Kong, domestic exports of textiles and clothing fell sharply during 2008 while the share of re-exports in total exports reached almost 90%. In the first half of 2009, sales of Hong Kong textiles and clothing in the US market plummeted by 76% as buyers switched to China following the elimination of quota restrictions.

In Japan, 2008 was a poor year for manufacturers and exporters. Exports to five of the country’s six largest markets fell-as did exports of nine of its ten biggest selling products. Furthermore, domestic wholesale sales of textile products fell for the 11th consecutive year. Domestic production, meanwhile, fell by 8.9% after declining by 5.4% in 2007 and 4.2% in 2006. Imports also declined.

South Korean textile and clothing exports fell by a modest 1.0% in 2008, due to a fall in clothing sales. Textile exports rose by a minimal 0.3% as weaker demand in the EU and the USA was offset by large increases in sales to Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Despite the drop in clothing exports, however, production continued to rise in 2008, as a result of vigorous domestic demand.

In Taiwan, export demand fell in 2008, having remained steady during 2005-07. The fall was due, in part, to the global economic slowdown-which led to a reduction in orders from China and other major Asian markets. Textile and clothing production, meanwhile, fell at a much more alarming rate. Textile output was down by 11.5% and clothing output by 19.2%. To combat falling sales, Taiwanese manufacturers have concentrated increasingly on the production of specialised textiles with higher added value.

Brazil Housing Sector Analysis available at provides extensive research and objective analysis on the growing housing industry in Brazil, its components and supporting financing structure. The report aims at helping clients to analyse the factors critical to the success of the housing industry in Brazil. Detailed data and analysis helps investors, financial service providers and global real estate players to navigate through the latest trends in Brazil’s housing industry.

Brazil has emerged as a favourable destination for the real estate developers to tap unexplored opportunities in the housing sector. This is largely due to the fact that the country is facing a massive housing shortage owing to demand-supply mismatch. With recession hurting the economy, low cost or affordable housing units are fast emerging as the next area of growth in the country’s housing sector.

The report tells that the housing sector is poised for tremendous growth in the coming few years on the back of growing population, rising income levels and increasing demand for housing units, particularly in the lower and middle income segment. The research anticipates total housing stocks to increase at a CAGR of around 3% during 2009-2013.

Moreover, the government-owned housing institutions have been offering loans at 12% interest that can be easily paid over 30 years. This, along with various other initiatives by the government, will lead to 14% decline in the housing deficit, at 6.27 Million homes in 2007. However, the government hasn’t set a deadline for completion and the program will be considered finished only on completion of one million homes.

Anticipating the market potential, Brazil is witnessing massive investments in its housing sector, from both the private and the public sector. These investments are particularly targeted at meeting unprecedented demand for affordable housing units in the country. It is anticipated that the housing construction industry could overtake other sectors in terms of contribution to GDP growth in the next few years.

The report Mobile Advertising & Marketing: Delivery Channel Analysis and Global Forecasting 2008-2015 explains that as the mobile market evolves and grows, mobile carriers, existing web service operators and advertising agencies are looking for new ways to monetise services and develop new sources of revenue.

According to the 96 page report brands and marketers are paying increasing attention to the mobile channel because it allows highly targeted campaigns that reach specific segments of interest to advertisers. As major brands and agencies have actively unfolded mobile ads campaigns, the market followers are also quickly moving into mobile space. Their pace to exploit opportunities in mobile ads has opened the door for a number of specialised agencies, aggregators, and other enablers.

Advertising via mobile channels is of growing importance and many new methods for reaching subscribers with marketing and advertising campaigns are being developed. Depending on the target market and the mobile channel employed, a campaign can use precise demographic information that maximises marketing and advertising spending on particular segments. This precision results in demonstrably higher customer response rates than campaigns using other mediums.

The highly personalised nature of mobile phones, their ubiquity, and their increasing media capabilities make these ideal devices for reaching out to consumers to extend brand marketing as well as to advertise products and services.

This study examines the potential for mobile advertising and identifies the different types of technologies used to deliver them to mobile customers, as well as the key strengths and key success factors of each granular segmented tool, such as message, audio and video adverts, also looking at adverts based on location and social networking service based advertising. The global market forecasting entails the overall delivery volumes of advertisement messages, Click-Through or Response results, and expenditures and revenues by each segmented delivery channels and global region from 2008 to 2015.

According to the report Global Next Generation Network (NGN) Equipment Market 2008-2012 available at “Global NGN test equipment revenue is expected to reach $2,646 million by 2012, from $1,743 million in 2008; thus, growing at rate of 11.3 percent.”

Next Generation Network (NGN) is a single network which transports data and services through packets and provides services such as data, voice, video, e-mail, and other multimedia & telecom services.

The demand for NGN test equipment has been increasing on account of increasing adoption of NGN. Moreover, an integrated solution is required for conducting various tests during the installation and maintenance of a network.

Furthermore, “The increasing deployment of NGN by carriers is compelling manufacturers to market their network equipment on the basis of cross platform versatility,” says the new 19 page report.

NGN provides market opportunities for manufacturers of a broad range of equipment types, including provider edge, metro access/ aggregation, mobile backhaul equipment, data center switches, and enterprise switches and routers. Also, NGN equipment enables revenue growth by reducing operational and capital expenses, and maintaining profit margins. NGN requires less physical assets or fewer network elements and interfaces. Thus, cost for network maintenance, personnel, power consumption, and IT is substantially reduced.

According to the report World Power Lawn & Garden Equipment: Industry forecasts for 2013 & 2018 worldwide demand for power lawn and garden equipment is projected to expand nearly three percent annually through 2013 to exceed $18 billion. Despite being presently mired in a recession, the bedrock US market will provide the best opportunities, accounting for slightly over one-half of the additional demand generated between 2008 and 2013. Recovery in US demand will reflect a turnaround in the current housing crisis, as well as continued enthusiasm for gardening by US consumers. US power lawn and garden equipment sales will also benefit from the introduction of improved products, such as cordless electric models.

On a regional basis, North America and Western Europe will continue to be the dominant markets, with nearly 90 percent of demand in 2013. Consumers in these developed nations have high per-capita income levels which allow for discretionary purchases such as power lawn and garden equipment. These areas are also home to the vast majority of the world’s golf courses, which are major consumers of power lawn and garden equipment.

Strongest per annum gains are expected in the developing areas of Asia. However, the region will remain small by global standards, with less than five percent of demand in 2013. Demand throughout much of Asia is limited by low income levels, with most consumers unable to afford power lawn and garden equipment for home use. Low wages also dampen professional demand, since the low cost of labor encourages the use of manual equipment in landscaping applications. Even the prosperous nation of Japan is a relatively small market. Most Japanese do not have yards or gardens of sufficient size to justify the use of power equipment.

The residential market accounted for nearly two-thirds of power lawn and garden equipment sales in 2008. The size of the residential market results from its dominance in developed markets such as that in the US. Gains in this segment will benefit from rising personal expenditure levels. The commercial market is larger in most developing nations, as well as in Japan. Demand in the commercial market will benefit from the rising number of golf courses and professional landscapers. Professional landscapers will find increased demand to service both residential and commercial properties.

It discusses the main market trends and charts the market evolution in the US, Europe and the Asia Pacific including the Middle East.

Within a short timeframe, the iPhone series of devices has helped fuel mobile web adoption in North America and Europe unlike any device before. In the seven years prior to the launch, the paucity of user-friendly mobile web-focused devices proved a major obstacle to optimal growth in users and traffic.

Thanks to innovative multi-touch gesture user interfaces, faster processing and large screens, users are now more aware of the benefits of web access with mobility. The introduction of multi-touch user interfaces been pivotal in finally realising the possibility and benefit of mobile browsing to a wide audience, particularly in developed markets. Supported by increasing bandwidth in mobile networks, improved user experience has encouraged uptake, particularly as an extension of any given user’s online desktop experience, evidenced by the widespread adoption of mobile versions of leading social networking sites. This is illustrated by Apple through the iPhone, whose users in the UK are five times more likely to browse the web than owners of other mobile phones.

The move triggered a wave of touch interface releases with large screens from rival device manufacturers. It is within this context that the development of mobile web browser technologies forms a crucial component, providing the platform which will help generate new revenue streams from advertising and content/application downloads, on top of subscriptions.

Given its evolutionary path in relation to advances in device and UI, the browser is increasingly assuming the ability to substitute many applications for a single platform. The browser can form a single stop for documents, audio and video, games, and navigational services with APIs leveraging each device’s unique capabilities including GPS, accelerometers, cameras and so on.

According to the 125 Page report , companies such as Google, Apple and Palm are harbouring ambitions to port the next stage in the internet roadmap, HTML 5, onto the mobile platform, possibly leading to video played within the mobile browser without the need for additional rich internet application (RIA) plugins such as Flash and Silverlight. The RIA framework developers themselves, such as Adobe and Microsoft, are working towards full desktop versions onto mobile handsets for 2010.

Report Buyer has added a new report providing an extensive view of the latest Hybrid vehicle technology and gives details of strategies for all the major OEM’s (original equipment manufacturers). It looks at hybrid incentive schemes and provides regional market analysis for North America, Europe and Japan.

According to the Hybrid Vehicles and Components Report, one of the primary driving forces behind the production of hybrid vehicles has been the tightening of global emission regulations. The need for fuel efficiency has moved from being a consumer based motivation to an environmental concern that requires regulation, not only to combat pollution from noxious gases, but to limit the transport contribution to CO2 output partly responsible for global warming and to provide a route to moving away from strategic dependence on oil.

Hybrid vehicles as we know them today were launched on the market by Toyota in Japan in 1997 and this was followed quickly by the arrival of the Honda Insight into the US. Since then gasoline electric hybrid vehicles have become a part of the automotive landscape with virtually all the major OEMs in either the market or working towards model launch. At the end of 2008 there had been some 34 models ranging from the full hybrid Prius to the mild hybrid Mercedes S Class. Total hybrid global sales are now estimated at around 500,000, with more than 350,000 hybrids sold during 2007 in the US alone before the market fell to just over 300,000 units in 2008.

According to the report Foodservice Disposables: US industry forecasts for 2013 & 2018 demand for foodservice disposables is projected to approach $18 billion in 2013. Though advances will decelerate from the past decade due to slower growth in consumer spending and more moderate material price increases, demand for disposables will be supported by a rebound in away-from-home food expenditures as the economy recovers. Rising away-from-home food expenditures will also reflect faster-paced lifestyles and the willingness of consumers to pay for convenient, ready prepared foods. Packaging and service ware made from biodegradable materials will post robust advances from a low base, the result of increased price competitiveness with petroleum-based plastic materials; rapidly expanding capacity; heightened consumer interest in environmental issues; increased pressure on foodservice operators to reduce their environmental footprint; and growing bans on polystyrene-based disposables.

The 313 page report tells us that the fastest gains are anticipated for packaging products, fuelled by above average revenue growth in the large limited service segment, which accounts for nearly half of overall restaurant revenues but generates a much higher share of foodservice disposables demand. Expanding menu options in limited service restaurants and longer hours to incorporate breakfast and late night snacking will also bode well for related packaging. Wraps and lids will register the fastest growth, with most container types also expected to register healthy gains. The popularity of takeout food from full service restaurants will provide a further boost for packaging, especially since these restaurants often use higher-value disposable containers designed to maintain food temperature and minimize leakage problems. Additionally, packaging gains will be supported by expanded prepared food offerings in supermarkets and other retail stores, along with increased catering activity by limited and full service restaurants.

The report believes Foodservice disposables suppliers are increasingly emphasising the development of sustainable packaging, which seeks to make greater use of packaging materials and systems that promote economic and environmental health. As a result, a plethora of new foodservice disposables products using recycled content or biodegradable materials have entered the market in the past few years, with heightened activity in all product segments.
