Report Buyer, the online destination for business intelligence for major industry sectors, has added a new report which finds that the largest wireless telecom market in Europe (by subscribers) in 2010 will be Russia.
The report, 1Q08 Mobile Forecast- Russia (2007 – 2010) forecasts that Russia will have a subscriber base of 186 million. Among them, 60.7 million will subscribe to MTS, and 57.0 million will subscribe to VimpelCom.
In addition, the study predicts that the level of wireless penetration in Russia will be 127.5% in 2010.
Authors of the report say that market shares (by subscribers) of the largest three operators in Russia will remain roughly the same over the next several years. MTS, VimpelCom, and MegaFon will continue to have approximately 32.7%, 30.7% and 21.3% of total subscribers respectively from 2007 – 2010.
The study finds that the average Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) in Russia will continue to rise in the coming years. Among major operators, VimpelCom will receive the highest ARPU of $14.77 per month in 2010.
Analysts say that while MTS will have an earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) margin of 51%, VimpelCom will continue to have profitability levels that are slightly higher with EBITDA margins of 53% in 2010.
The report covers 65 financial and operational metrics over three wireless operators.
