Report Buyer, the online destination for business intelligence for major industry sectors, has added a new report which forecasts that the industry for home care health products will see a continuing rise in the next four years.
U.S. Market for Home Care Products, 5th Edition says factors contributing to the sustained growth in the market are an ageing US population, an increase in health conditions that need home care and a sustained effort to move from expensive institutional care to cheaper home care. A combination of these factors is predicted to drive overall sales over $10 billion by 2011.
Home health monitors, presently the leading home care market’s segment will see robust growth due to the rising number of diabetics who require periodic self-care. This vanguard segment will see significant growth, and is expected to increase market sales by over $758 million in the next four years. However, it may lose its prime position to the defibrillator segment whose sales will be given a boost by increased competition, decreased prices and high demand- 2.3 million individuals with atrial fibrillation are consumers in this segment and it is expected to grow by 25.2 per cent over the next five years.
Analysts have reported that the U.S. market for home care products and equipment has climbed steadily in a six-year growth period up to 2006. The report projects that the number of home care patients will rise further as average life expectancy goes up and the significant population segment, the Baby Boomers, continue to age.
Analysts also point out that while the overall US population is growing by about 1.2% per year, the segment of people in the over-65 age group is expanding at double this pace. They note that it is this population that utilises a majority of the products profiled in the report.
U.S. Market for Home Care Products, 5th Edition provides an overview of the current market scenario and also lists home care products commonly in use. It focuses on the diseases and conditions affecting home care product users and profiles 12 suppliers. Issues and trends that determine market dynamics such as long term care insurance, cost containment issues and competitive bidding are also put in perspective in the report.
