Summary

This Government Insights report believes that faster, more affordable, and efficient public sector service delivery can be achieved by leveraging on mobile technologies, as a complementary channel to existing broadband initiatives.

"With a proactive and strategic push by the public sector to embrace mobile technologies, we believe that public sector organizations will be able to benefit from an alternative channel for the delivery of citizen-centric services. This channel will have a far greater reach and can complement existing digital-inclusion broadband initiatives," says Gerald Wang, market analyst, Government Insights, IDC Asia/Pacific. "Where the public sector themselves are not convinced of the maturity of certain technologies, it falls onto the leadership of industry leaders and the private sector to demonstrate the benefits of such mobile technologies and to encourage greater acceptance and adoption by the public," he adds.
