Summary
This IDC study analyzes how Canadian organizations are responding to governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) challenges. Our survey examines which regulations are atop the radar screens for senior business and IT leaders.
"Our survey findings of line-of-business and IT managers indicate that the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) is replacing the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) as the GRC focus of Canadian organizations,"said David Senf, director of Security and Software Research."Canadian firms believe that they are more than halfway down the path of dealing with their key GRC issues. IDC believes that this means that firms in this country have either spent the lion's share of budgets relating to compliance or already have that money earmarked."Senf and Nigel Wallis, research manager, Services, agree that in order to capture the remaining activity, vendors should leverage experience and best practices into easy-to-use assessment tools and simplified deployment.
