Summary
The long battle between WiMax and 3G technologies seems to be coming to an end. As mobile operators largely adopt 3G platforms and the price of 3G terminals drops drastically, it has become clear that WiMax will no longer replace the third generation mobile platforms. In spite of that, across the globe, innumerous WiMax projects are on their way, not only in developed but also in developing countries.
In this issue of the Brazil Telecommunications Services CIS, IDC studies the WiMax initiatives in three countries: Australia, India and China. In addition, the last section describes the initiatives taken by the Brazilian operators so far and provides a review of their strategies.
